For starters I think Rift valley and central votes if put in one basket will be unbeatable even without the ICC debacle ,add the sexiness of the ICC ruling and these two communities will have more reason to rally behind the two alleged suspects and give them another 5 year lease of holding Kenya hostage .Whoever said that there are no permanent foes in politics was absolutely right, just imagine Ruto is accused of orchestrating the killing of innocent Kikuyu in Rift valley and Uhuru of doing the same to Kalenjins makes it astounding that now their supporters see in them collective “heroes” aptly named UHURUTO ,I ask my self heroes for what?, for killing innocent people? ,if Ruto was man enough he should have organized militia to attack security personnel and overturn the govt and uhuru on the other hand should have persuaded Kibaki to engage legal means in the name of Kenya army to secure the country ,attacking innocent unarmed civilians is the lowest low of cowardice, we wouldn’t have been in ICC if the latter was the scenario ,it would have been similar to when the KAF secured mt elgon area by flushing out SLDF.

Now back to the reason why I believe we need to gamble by letting these two ran for presidency ,first it will be the best way to keep them out of elective politics ,the constitution is very clear that when you run for president it disqualifies you for running concurrently for any other elective seats ,so they loose the presidency and we buy five years of not having to listen to their war cries.Second reason is quite obvious ,deny them the opportunity and they will have two grievances against their perceived enemies both real and imagined, one will be the ICC and second they will claim that someone has manipulated the constitution to lock them out of the race ,this will be potent political fodder for their naïve supporters and everyone knows these two are masters of the propaganda. They will hire the best spin doctors and we are already seeing them in numerous media outlets spewing their ill informed half-truths and disinformation,do i hear Mutahi Ngunyi?. By the end of it all they will not be in state house themselves but will have whoever they anoint deep in there pockets just like they have their communities. In the event that this unfortunate event happens then the country will still be under the tight grip of these two alleged war lords ,they will in total disregard of the new dispensation be rewarded with plum cabinet positions and impunity will “endelea”.

However if these two are on separate tickets then they can split the central Kenya / Rift valley votes and consequently loose honorably and remain silent until 2017;that will give us enough time to fully implement the constitution to a point that even if one of them is president in 2017 his hands will be tied by the law and order of constitutionalism. An opportunity has presented itself for the Progressive candidates to play realpolitik and seize the window of opportunity ,it does not knock twice-that is-if they pull together, and let Kenya have a truly new beginning ,are the progressives like ,Martha ,Peter K,Musyimi and ,Ole Kiyapi listening ?<span style="font-size: 14pt; The main question I ask myself and others is who is the single most beneficiary of this incident? Politically off course. If your answer is Tuju then naturally whoever stands to benefits most must be the one who organized youths to pelt his convoy with rocks, after all a few broken auto glass is pocket change to such a wealthy man. Raila isn’t going to get any political mileage by instructing youths to stone his opponent ,as many have noticed by now he is slowly metamorphosing to cast an image of a national leader and is reaching out to other communities which were considered hostile to ODM ,to organize such a silly incident will not make any sense especially when the stakes are so high.Tuju on the other hand who until last week was not featuring any where in the 2012 political talk has just gained tonnes of media coverage by this one incident. Coming from a mainstream media back ground you must agree that his was a genius strategy to get the nation to notice him and talk about him hence becoming relevant, remember it was alleged that Mwau shot at his own car and also that someone planted a fake grenade at his office,we must always remember that a politician is a politician no matter how savvy or suave. Another angle could be Raila phobic’s on the other side could have easily paid a few idle youth to attack Tuju's convoy just so they can blame it on ODM ,after all they have promised to use “all means necessary “ to cut Tinga to size. The clips that are all over the internet clearly show that those who walked with and listened to Tuju out numbered the stone throwers ,so majority of kisumu residents can be said to be tolerant and open mined.

Lets analyze this front runner objectively

How kazi kwa Vijana can be put in better use.

The word is “capacity building”, where the govt and World Bank should identify existing projects and small businesses to strengthen their output and hence create employment for more youths. Direct payments to youths to perform menial labor is just the same as giving a homeless person food for today and hoping his problems will go away. We must create gainful and productive employment, that is the bottom line. Another alternative is to give employers incentives for hiring any new inexperienced workers, these incentives can be in the form of tax breaks, direct compensation or as conditions to get numerous government contracts. It can not be overemphasized that it is time for change and the old order can not be relied upon to move Kenya to the next level.Since our population has almost doubled since independence we can not rely on the same pie that we had at independence, we need to seriously consider a 24 hour economy to provide employment for the 50% unemployed;this will not and can never be achieved if we continue to import oranges and pencils. The govt must immediately ban importation of anything that can be manufactured locally. The so called industrial project that was recently revived by the president is a useless endeavor to say the least, why should we dream of making a car when we can not even make a bicycle? ,lets starts with realistic baby steps , I have never seen a 6month old baby run in a 100m race.Govt contracts like supply of bottled water and juices for offices must be channeled to small business who manufacture from small farms or homes and believe me they are many ,off course conditions like employing others must be met. Let me conclude by saying this, I think the progressive candidates in 2012 will agree with most of what has been discussed here for obvious reasons, I will now candidly address them. Peter Kenneth, Martha Karua and Raphael Tuju, you can do great things for this country if the three of you unite and make a formidable third force but if you try to change Kenya individually I have three guaranteed words for you “YOU WILL FAIL”. The PNU and ODM have more resources individually then the three of you put together but there is a window of opportunity ,I see the PNU and ODM as the proverbial “kilkeney cats” who fought each other so bitterly there was none left to win .This is the window of opportunity but it can only be achieved through unity of purpose ,you will not have to lift a finger to fight these two self destructive lords of impunity, when nothing but their tails are left you will make the grand march to state house and change this country forever .I will leave it to the three of you to invite other like minded leaders to our camp, a good example is Mutava Musyimi ,my personal line up will be Raphael Tuju for President ,running mate Martha Karaua and PK will be certainly the first secretary of Finance under the new constitution, he will have another stab at the presidency in 2022.Why I say this is because across the nation Kenyans want to feel that the presidency is not a prestige of one community ,to shove this school of thought will be naïve or what do you think?

Yours Truly

MKenya Damu

QS 1 compare and contrast (10marks)

<img style="float:left; Even witness lawyer Anya was unable to corner Jomo junior and depending on what his corroborating witness nguyai says tomorrow, I think his political enemies should restrategize and prepare for an epic battle in 2012.Pole kwa fisi alio ngoja mkono ku anguka (pun intended).

IT IS OUR TURN TO FEAST

Yes you read right, call me a tribalist for all I care but I have proof that this is the way of our nation. So today I speak what most of you say in hushed and silent tones, you all know where I am coming from so don’t play saints with me. You are already guessing, “hii mpaka ikuwe jaluo or baluya etc”, oh well I guess you will be disappointed when I tell you that, you are dead wrong!, the tribe I speak for is one big tribe called Kenya, yes Kenyans you and me, I don’t care what variety you are .Forget the past when you ate in your cocoons, this time we want to eat as Kenyans from turkana to lake Victoria, Mombasa to Nairobi. Tell the tribal barons who are only good for playing golf and sipping unimaginably expensive drinks, that we ordinary folk have had enough.

Yes my brothers and sisters in kibera, kayole, mathare, kayaba, we are poor but have the power that is rightfully ours to use to get rid of these barons, for it is truly our time to eat, come December 2012 I ask you to arm yourself with your voting card and start eating when we get better housing for everyone, good roads, schools for our children and decent hospitals to take care of our parents and grand parents. This is the dawn of a new era where all Kenyans will lift their necks above the collar and boldly say iam proud to be a Kenyan; “najivunia kuwa mkenya”,the realty to this otherwise fantastic talk is achievable but only if we collectively make the right choices. Let all men and women of good conscience vote with their brains and not what the big men expect to cash on .It is not my place to persuade you who to vote for, for I have faith in your intelligence to make the right decision .See you in 2013 when it will be truly our turn to eat, kuon, ugali, mokimo etc.
Yours truly
Progressive Kenyan

Why i will vote for Peter Kenneth

Why I will Vote for Peter Kenneth

The year2012 is not too far from now and the anxiety over change of guard in the Kenyan statehouse is taking a toll on all those who believe that peaceful change can only be achieved through political means. I have care fully analyzed all the presidential candidates and like most Kenyans I feel a strong inclination to go with one of “our own” but I will not. I remember 2002 with nostalgia because at that time the current president was speaking all things reforms and this resonated so well with most urbanite reform minded young Kenyans, myself being one. We did everything we could to bring all our friends on board to support Kibaki, and everywhere we went we were chanting unbwoggable! ,unbwogable! but even though things in the long run did not amount to our expectation I have not lost faith in my beloved country Kenya nevertheless.

A few months after the now infamous period in Kenyan history ,right after the post election violence of 2007/2008 , I was having a political back and forth with a friend and yes I agree it was rather early to be discussing the next election even before we had healed as a nation but that is a story for another day.Personaly I was very convinced that Kenya will get a fresh start in the next election but when challenged to name the person who will lead this fresh start I was short of any names ,little did I know that the fresh start leader had been there all along ,we just chose not to look, I’m sure many have guessed by now that am referring to my candidate Peter Kenneth ,a man rejected by his own community because he has chosen the high road to state house, shunning away the old and tired tribal kingpin mantra. I had always heard about Kenneth’s achievements in Gatanga and had only seen short clips of him on YouTube and was somewhat impressed but not enough to single him out as a true bonafide national leader. I recently got an opportunity to listen to Mr. Kenneth’s plans for Kenya and how he would solve our problems if given an opportunity and right there and then I knew that this was the man I fronted to my friend albeit unknowingly.

We have seen all manner of united fronts, some on ethnic lines others regional and yes others based on honor among thieves, but alas Kenneth is the only one who is man enough to present himself as an individual without any baggage of wheeler dealers who are always rubbing their hands waiting for the next tenant at the house on the hill. His blue print is simple ,create infrastructure ,feed the nation , provide healthcare and security and the country will blossom like flowers in spring ,it is that simple.Mr Kenneth is not coming with promises to take us to the moon but with that which is achievable and will lay a strong foundation on which our children can pursue greater ideals .I urge all Kenyans of good will to shun tribal politics and finish what we started in 2007 , and by this I mean that in 2007 most of the old guard and usual suspects were wiped out of electoral seats but unfortunately we all know what happened .We are now working to build a credible electoral body ,judiciary and police force their for we can have confidence when we vote that our will shall prevail, but we must vote wisely ,vote for someone who has shed off the tribal tag ,vote for someone who truly believes all Kenyans are stake holders and equal partners ,vote for my hero Peter Kenneth.

Progressive Kenyan (PK)

We are a lost people.

The political situation is indeed hot at this time of the year, what with everyone defending their candidate blindly and I mean it literally. Your man is an angel even when caught with cookie crumbs in their lips. “Am not a tribalist he is just the best leader” you say, yeah right as the Americans would put it. May be we should ban the tribes who are offering candidates from voting, I believe this would go a long way into diffusing the already tribally polarized election fever. Funny how the people who have least benefited from their man being in power are the most fierce defenders of Mzee.Just what is it with our people; we refuse to take any rational and logical choices for as long they exclude our favorite son. The best way to undo this ethnic polarity is to ask people to have 42 candidates and each voter must not vote for their tribesman. The big question is, is it possible for someone to support a candidate from their own tribe solely based on merit?
